Taller Internacional:

International Workshop:
"From Reparations in Transitional Justice to Historic Reparations for the Afro-descendant people in Colombia"
"From Reparations in Transitional Justice to Historic Reparations for the Afro-descendant people in Colombia"
On
the road to end the armed conflict between the national government and the
insurgency, and in the framework of transitional justice, we have a
responsibility to promote a process of collective reparations for communities
of the Afro-descendant people in Colombia.
This process must begin to link reparations for the armed conflict with historical
reparations, and thus break the silence surrounding the legacy of slavery and
the slave trade and their effects on the millions of Afro-descendants in the
country. This is necessary for
overcoming structural racism and racial inequality, which have been heightened
by the internal armed conflict, and for preventing repetition.
To this end, and to mark International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, the Black Communities Process (PCN) and the Consultancy for Human Rights and Displacement-(CODHES) invite representatives and members of Afro-descendant Community Councils, organizations, processes and national and international activists, academics and institutions to participate in the International Workshop on Reparations in Cali, Colombia, 21-23 March, 2017.
